Last year I took with me a few tourniquets to hand out to the soldiers who were protecting an area where there is an IDP camp with children. they were very appreciative, and that opened the door to dialouge with them. Since my last trip there has been more interest in them. The problem is that they are twenty to thirty dollars each. At that cost it is difficult to bring enough to make a difference for the people there. That is why I am developing a low cost tourniquet to be able to hand out as many as I can. My goal is to make five hundred tourniquets to take with me. Honestly it is a stressful undertaking and I could use your prayers as this develops. I am trying to keep the cost under two dollars each, and I think this is attainable. I have been in touch with a ministry in Jos that had recently mentioned needing a gift to give to the security forces other than cookies and cokes. At times the relationship between the security forces and the villagers is severely strained because of the distrust between them. The tourniquets will be the olive branch to bring the two groups together. Another great thing that can come of this is if you are friends with the people who have the guns, they can protect the villagers. Thats what we want to do. We want to decrease the amount of people getting killed, and share the gospel at the same time. If you would like to give towards this project, please visit my donation page.
