Africa

I really never had a desire to go to Africa. The majority of all my mission trips had been to Central America, and I was content going there. Well, as only God can do, my desires changed. Our church supports a missionary in Nigeria, and the missionary had always asked me to come. I always made an excuse, but finally God laid it on my heart to go so I went, and I have been tremendously blessed by it. Nigerians are kind, devoted, passionate, caring, loving, fierce when they need to be, yet understanding as well. With all of the turmoil going on there, one would think that their faith would be non existent. I have seen examples over and over of a tremendous faith that they have, and I wish I could have that kind of faith. They trust wholeheartedly in God for everything, and it’s very inspirational. Amazing people.

So why am I going, and what am I doing? I believe God has called me there for whatever reason He has. This year I want to provide them clean water using a specialized water filter, and provide clean drinking water and present the gospel every time I give a filter out. In a muslim culture it is best to show them that you care first, then once the trust is there you can then share the gospel. I will be hopefully reaching out to muslims and also a group called Fulani. While the Fulani have been very aggressive as of late, I believe that there are also Fulani that are just wanting to live their lives. I also want to do medical outreaches as well to help these groups lives a little bit easier. Its hard for them to live a healthy lifestyle because of there water and also due to malaria and typhoid.
